School flies flag for environment
Y Gamfa Wen nursery at Carmarthen's University of Wales Trinity Saint David has been awarded its first Eco-Schools Green flag.

The Welsh medium nursery was given the accolade for its performance in education and environmentally-friendly development.

A presentation ceremony took place last week as part of the nursery's eco-school day of action.

Children carried out activities to enhance the nursery garden and the campus as a whole.

A litter pick by the children and staff was supported by the mascot Eco Eli and students from the university's school of early childhood. Students and little ones were also involved in planting vegetable seeds in the nursery garden. Acting manager at the nursery Caryl Thomas said: "This celebration is yet another good example of our numerous achievements. Introducing initiatives like the eco-schools programme provides a stimulating environment for our youngest learners to become responsible citizens, by being involved in the process from the onset."
