School eco team tackles beach litter
East-The-Water Community Primary School pupils have been doing their bit to help keep North Devon£s beaches clean and tidy.

An eco team from the school joined forces with Mrs Recycle £ aka Cathy Karniewicz £ and their local Tesco store to tackle marine litter at Westward Ho! The beach clean was organised as part of Tesco£s Community Champion action plan, supported by SodaStream, designed to promote recycling in North Devon schools.

A £1,000 donation by Sodastream, a supporting partner of Climate Week, will help fund an educational beach cleaning programme at Westward Ho! beach over the coming year.

Sallie Mckay Roper, community champion at Bideford Tesco, said: £The beach clean will be a great way for the local community to become engaged in caring for their environment, while assisting further research into the extent of the problem.£
