08 March 2012 Green cafe launched for young people A cafe for young people in Frome to explore environmental issues starts tonight. It will then be held on a monthly basis. Last April the Gathering for Sustainability at the Cheese and Grain brought together young people from Frome's schools and it emerged on the day that they wanted their own forum or a place to get together to function in much the same way Sustainable Frome does, but for young people.
The ideal venue was always to be Frome's long-awaited Youth Cafe, which opened last summer.
The Sustainable Youth Cafe is for all young people who have ever worried about the environment and want to do something about it.
Financially supported by Sustainable Frome, the cafe is to give young people the chance to inform themselves and each other about green issues, support each other's campaigns and ultimately find ways to really make a difference.
The choice of topics is up to the young people themselves, as it is intended that the meetings will be led by them, although two CRB-checked adults will be present.
Everyone is invited to bring vegetarian food to share organic, local, FairTrade or homemade, if possible and there will be drinks, including milkshakes, available to buy.
The Sustainable Youth Cafe will meet monthly and entry is free. It will run from 6pm to 7.30pm at Routes, on Palmer Street. For the full news article and to be taken to the website, click here |
