Schools join compaign to cut energy comsumption
Schools in York and North Yorkshire are taking part in Switch Off Fortnight in a bid to cut energy comsumption

Captain Flash visited schools to highlight the campaign run by energy company EDF.

He told pupils and teachers to adopt a £no waste£ approach to energy, and urged them to switch off lights in empty rooms and not put computers on standby as this wasted money, energy and produced more carbon emissions.

Vikki Pendry, specialist teacher for Sustainable Schools for City of York Council, said: £It is great to see so many schools involved in this campaign, reminding us all that we have a responsibility to look after our beautiful world. Captain Flash has been really busy and is very impressed indeed by the commitment and determination from children to use less energy.£
