02 May 2012 Eco pupils target flag success Eco-Friendly pupils have been proving their green credentials. Children at Drefach Primary in the Gwendraeth Valley held an eco week, in a bid to help them secure the school's first green flag this summer. Teacher, Emma McKenna, said: "They've really taken to all the different activities.
"We're trying to raise awareness among the children."
The week began with a litter pick both around the school and in the park, while on Tuesday the children took part in cycling activities with Nicola Olsson of Carmarthenshire Council and cycling safety officer with Cross Hands police.
On Wednesday, pupils were taught about compost and what could be put in it.
Lucky drivers got a car wash at the school on Thursday, while on Friday the children had a talk on healthy diet from Grand Slam winner Jonathan Davies. For the full news article and to be taken to the website, click here |
