Green pupils keen to recycle unwanted gifts
Coedcae school pupils are appealing for unwanted mobile phones, garden tools and clothes as they aim for Eco School status

Youngsters have been awarded the top collector award for their efforts in gathering recyclable items, which have raised more than £130 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The school also took part in Keep Wales Tidy's coastal clean-up event, helping to clear the path along Llanelli beach in readiness for the launch of the Wales Coast Path.

Teacher Barbara Lewis said: "Other recent school initiatives include a Fairtrade cake sale in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support, a campaign to make sure pupils bin their litter and a new after-school gardening club where pupils will grow vegetables and herbs for the cookery department to use."

And to help further their quest for the Eco Schools green flag, students are asking the public to drop off old mobile phones, CDs and DVDs in their plastic boxes, and old clothes for the rag bag scheme. Plastic bottles are also being collected, which will be used to make a recycled greenhouse.
