Eco pupils aim to get green flag
Pupils at a Kidwelly school are going green, after holding an Eco-week before the Easter holidays.

Children at Ysgol Gwenllian carried out a litter-pick of the park, making a special trip to the recycling banks to recycle their rubbish.

They were also visited by Carmarthenshire Council's eco-friendly elephant Eco Eli, with education and awareness officers speaking to the children about why it's important to reduce our waste and reuse or recycle as much as possible.

They were also shown a series of animated films on what happens to our rubbish once it's picked up from our homes £ from plastic bottles to food and garden waste.

Head teacher Gareth James said the week had been a real success.

"It has raised awareness of key environmental issues and the need to live more sustainably. The pupils, staff and friends of the school are keen to achieve Green Flag status before the year is out."

Staff and pupils are working hard to become environmentally-friendly and tackle climate change.
