Berryhill Primary create eco-friendly greenhouse out of plastic bottles
Pupils at Berryhill Primary have recycled hundreds of old plastic bottles to make a greenhouse.

The youngsters from Craigneuk and Wishawhill collected over 1000 old bottles and put them to good use in their award-winning garden.
The greenhouse was erected as part of the schools eco-project.
Head teacher Carrie Nicol said: Part of our plan is to make improvements to our playground, focusing on our garden area which will provide rich opportunities for outdoor learning. With help from our parent council and members of our community in Craigneuk and Wishawhill, we have managed to create our own greenhouse from recycled plastic bottles.
The children designed the greenhouse and put it together with the help of people from Craigneuk and Wishawhill.
Mrs Nicol added: There are so many good things going on in the community here. Craigneuk and Belhaven Church and St Patricks helped us collect the bottles we needed, and the parents came along to help build the greenhouse. The response from the community has been fantastic.
Were going to grow vegetables now and have a raised bed in our allotment too.
Green flags are awarded to environmentally friendly schools as part of a national campaign and Mrs Nicol continued: We achieved our first green flag in 2009 and this week we are being assessed for our second green flag. The eco committee led by Miss Young and supported by Mrs Mathieson have been working hard on our eco action plan.
We have also received an award from the Royal Horticultural Society and a donation of trees to help create a wooded area.
Our hope is that the community will also benefit from our outdoor spaces and that we can work in partnership maintaining and improving the area for everyone.
The Eco-Schools programme at Berryhill Primary and Nursery aims to engage children in key issues including the environment, sustainability, global citizenship and the value of a low carbon future.
