06 October 2011 Leftover Glasgow food to power up 3000 homes Meal scraps from Glasgow hospitals are to be used to help fuel a new recycling facility that will produce enough energy to power 3000 homes Waste management company Shanks has opened a renewable plant in Cumbernauld, as well as a recycling site near Blochairn Market in the north of the city.
