Newport youngsters get green skills
About 250 schoolchildren took part in a range of outdoor activities at Newports Tredegar House to mark eco-week

Pupils from 28 primary, infant and junior schools have visited the houses nurseries over the past few days where they learnt about bushcraft, survival skills, green woodcraft and beekeeping.

They also took part in recycling games and had a talk from the city councils green team about biodiversity and animal habitats, at the authority-organised event.

They also got the chance to get up close and personal with reptiles and insects, as well as birds of prey from Ebbw Vale Owl Sanctuary.

Students from each school also planted two hanging baskets, which they took away with them to display in their playgrounds.
