Charity brings solar power to 50 African schools
A charity will bring solar powered electricity and other benefits to 50 African schools after getting a donation of 125,000.

Solarcentury has given the money through its charity arms SolarAid which was founded by the company to tackle poverty and climate change with solar energy.

According to Solarcentury 50 schools in Zambia will now be able to improving the lives of thousands of children thanks to a dontation of 90,000.

A further 35,000 has also been donated by to Sunny Schools, SolarAid's UK education programme, working with UK primary school teachers to promote solar power.

SolarAid chief executive, Steve Andrews, said: "When SolarAid puts solar panels on a school in Africa, something magic happens: exam results start to improve quickly.

"Solarcentury's gift of solar panels is enabling our team to bring electricity to 50 schools in Zambia; improving the prospects and hopes of thousands of children. We are incredibly grateful for their vision and generosity."

Solarcentury chief executive, Derry Newman, added: "SolarAid has gone from strength to strength; their work proves that solar power really can empower society."
