Wind jobs boost for Ireland
Ireland's green energy is set for a renewable power boost after a small wind turbine manufacturer announced an expansion.

C&F Green Energy will produce more of its smaller wind turbines, designed for farms, factories and homes, and create 145 new roles

An Taoiseach, Enda Kenny, announced today (July 15) that C&F Green Energy will create the jobs in Athenry, County Galway, over the next three years supported by Enterprise Ireland.

The jobs will be in the commercial manufacturing of the C&F Green Energy's range of new small wind turbines which have been in development over the past two years.

These turbines, ranging from 6kw to 50kw, are much smaller than the large megawatt rated turbines associated with larger wind farms.

Mr Kenny said: "This is great news for Ireland as a whole.

"Not alone are we seeing 145 new manufacturing jobs come on stream today but this project has the potential to generate significant spin off to the Irish economy.

"The project gives a substantial push to the development of Ireland's green economy and will help place Ireland in the forefront of the developing renewable energy sector worldwide."

C&F Green Energy managing director, John Flaherty, said: "We at C&F are very excited about the contribution we can make to this dynamic, modern industry with our strong track record in manufacturing excellence.
