01 December 2008 Oxfam encourages schools to recycle Oxfam has launched a new initiative to collect donations of unwanted items from schools across the UK. Oxfam will pay schools £200 per tonne for their unwanted clothing, books, and bric-a-brac, sales of which will be used to fund Oxfam's work across the developing world. The scheme means that schools can generate income and promote recycling and reuse, at the same time as helping Oxfam raise money to tackle poverty. It also provides an ideal platform to focus pupils on the benefits of sustainability and recycling.
