29 June 2011 Don't just walk on by - pick it up! Why not follow the example of 'Seersha the Eco Dog' during this year's Big Summer Clean.
She hates to see litter lying on the streets and makes a point of picking it up to give to her owner to put it into the nearest litter bin.
If you see litter on the floor, why not pick it up and put it where it belongs, in the litter bin.
The Big Summer Clean is back in town to help make all the city shine!
That is the theme of the Big Summer Clean official launch on Friday 1 July 2011. Seersha will be in the Market Square form 12.30pm to 1.30pm, seeking out and binning litter left behind by the lunch-time crowd. And if you join in the spirit of the launch by picking it up and binning it you could be in for a surprise!
Councillor Alex Norris, Portfolio Holder for Area Working, Cleansing and Community Safety said: "We are proud that Nottingham has been judged the cleanest big city in the UK. What easier way is there to keep it clean than putting your litter in a litter bin? And if you see some litter lying around that is safe to pick up and bin, why not do it? During our launch event on July 1, I will be in the Market Square celebrating good citizenship and rewarding the first two lucky residents that follow Seersha's good example with a pair of free tickets to see Splendour, Nottingham's greener festival."
The Big Summer Clean starts from July 1 and runs right through until August 31. The launch event will take place from 12.30pm to 1.30pm. For the full news article and to be taken to the website, click here |
