Rwandan teachers show children how to turn a profit by reusing unwanted household items
Three teachers have flown thousands of miles from Africa to help pupils reuse and recycle their unwanted items.

The Rwandan experts spent a week with children from Llanedeyrn Primary School, Cardiff, in the run-up to a trade fair, where they sold the product of their labour.

The week forms the latest stage in an exchange programme between the Cardiff school and Kigali Academy, in the Rwandan capital, which started three years ago.

It was the brainchild of teacher Madeleine Fox, whose brother is an engineer based there.

“I wanted to find a school we could exchange letters with, and it grew from there,” said Mrs Fox.

“We got talking about how to take the partnership forward and their attitude towards recycling and sustainability impressed us. They are very conscious of keeping the country clean.
