Schools Compete in Recycling Programme
Basildon Council has joined together with the Essex-based "Go Green 4 Schools Campaign" to launch a recycling competition. Kids are encouraged to participate in a plastic bottles recycling competition to see which school can collect the most bottle per student.

The winning school will receive a solar powered weather station and a £3,000 eco-garden. Schools that are runners up will also receive solar powered weather stations. The weather stations will teach students how to monitor various weather patterns, temperature, humidity, wind speeds, and precipitation.

Terri Sargent, Basildon Council's cabinet member for environment, said: "This is a brilliant chance for schools to win a prize which will produce a lot of fun as well as encouraging youngsters to learn more about the world around them.
