Green Flag celebrated in style at school
HATHEROP Primary School celebrated receiving the coveted Eco Schools Green Flag award with a Green Open Day.

Junk modelling, seed planting, designer hats made out of recyclable materials and cream teas were just a few of the things laid on to say thank you to the children for all their hard work.

Headteacher Sally Davis said: "The children have worked so hard over the last few months in bolstering our green credentials that we thought a Green Open Day would be the perfect opportunity to show off the school at its very best. It was a thoroughly enjoyable and educational afternoon."

One of the initiatives that the school undertook to further its green credentials was the lobbying of Gloucestershire Highways to widen the pavements between the villages of Hatherop and Coln St Aldwyns to make them safer.

This has now been done and should encourage more children to walk to school.

Sally Morley, Gloucestershire eco-schools assessor sent a message to the children: "I was so thrilled to hear that you have gained your Eco-school Green Flag. You have obviously done some really tremendous things in your school to achieve this and should be very proud of what you have done."
