25 June 2010 The future looks rosy for blossoming school There's more to education than learning how to read and write, as pupils at one award-winning village school know well. Pupils at Chipping Brabins Endowed School near Preston, are equally at home digging over their vegetable plot, working in the greenhouse or collecting eggs from the hens as they are sitting at their laptops. The school prides itself on trying to be as eco-friendly as it can and already boasts a host of regional and national awards but has just added to the collection by receiving a distinction in the DfE Awards for Sustainable Schools, as well as seeing junior department teacher Jim Blakely commended in the Becta Award for Next Generation Learning. Headteacher Glynis Goldsborough said: "We became an Eco school in 2000 and were one of the first in Lancashire to do so. "We work hard at trying to be sustainable and are involved with the whole community from which we get a lot of support." For the full news article and to be taken to the website, click here |
