Primary schools to benefit from National Recycling Week
A new campaign is being launched by the national reduce, reuse, and recycle partnership to encourage more residents to recycle electronic equipment as National Recycling Week kicks off on 21 June.

The scheme, which will begin Tuesday, will be launched at the Brunel Road Recycling Centre where Councillor Gordon Hook will be joined by four pupils from Haytor Primary School in Newton Abbot. As part of the initiative, 20 schools will be taking part throughout the country.

Other events, including Scrapman designed to teach primary children at Devon schools about waste management, will also be launched over the course of the week. WRAP will be working alongside the campaign to help householders recycle WEEE (waste electrical and electronics equipment) better.

During Recycling Week, all electronics recycled will earn people a rewards token could for a monetary donation to any local school. Acceptable recyclable materials include mobile handsets, electrical tools, computers, hairdryers, printers, and other forms of WEEE. According to WRAP, which hopes to place greater emphasis on WEEE recycling, just one toaster can create 25 new steel cans.
