Curriculum

Integration of environmental sustainability including Education for Sustainable Development, Recycling, Healthy Eating, Carbon Reduction and Energy Saving are all very important global issues.

A recent news article from OFSED about their report Every Child Matters states
‘Giving higher priority to sustainable schools, ensuring the curriculum reflects the importance of learning about sustainability, and stressing that education for sustainable development should be part of a broad and balanced curriculum, are all recommendations endorsed by the report’.
Education for sustainable development can be integrated throughout the Curriculum. Science, Maths, Geography and Citizenship can all present exciting opportunities to introduce new lessons which integrate information about environmental sustainability.

To help busy teachers integrate sustainability into lesson planning, the TeachShare Curriculum section provides links to websites which provide classroom material, lesson plans and assembly ideas linked to key stages 1 to 4 from organizations including The Met Office and Generation Green.
